The head of Central Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara province, met with an investor from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Thursday to discuss the latter's plan to build a mall and hotel in the district.
During the meeting in Central Lombok, district head Lalu Pathul Bahri assured the director of Silver Height Real Estate Samir Ahmed Munshi as the investor, that the local government will provide full support for the plan.
"This serves as an effort to develop Central Lombok. Let us hope that the plan will come to fruition," Bahri said.
The district head said he is optimistic that the construction of a mall in Praya sub-district would help the local economy grow. He further said he believes that the mall would help the government develop the tourism sector in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone.
"The mall will be built on the land that was used for the former Office of the Central Lombok district head," he informed.
Meanwhile, Munshi said that the beauty of Lombok Island drove him to explore investment in Central Lombok.
"Lombok is a beautiful place that is blessed with plenty of potential. That is why I am interested in investing in Central Lombok," he informed after his meeting with Bahri.
He said that he is planning to build a mall in Praya sub-district considering the area's proximity to the Mandalika International Circuit.
He also revealed his plan to develop a resort and restaurant on Selong Belanak Beach.
"The location is inhabited by Muslim residents. So, Arab and African tourists might see the resort as their second home," he said.
He informed that a feasibility study is currently underway for the project and expressed the hope that the local government would provide assistance to make the plans come to fruition.
