"Of these six pillars, the most important is pillar number one, keeping people healthy," he was quoted as saying in a statement from his ministry on Friday.
Sadikin made this statement during his public lecture at the IPB University on Thursday (February 29).
He remarked that the first pillar is primary service, which focuses on promotion of the preventive facet and is not curative, while the second is secondary service, which prioritizes the provision of health services that are easily accessible to the community.
The third pillar is the transformation of the health resilience system, which focuses on domestic drug independence and the provision of reserve health personnel, as was done during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fourth pillar is transformation of the health financing system, and the fifth pillar is transformation of the quality of health human resources with even distribution.
Meanwhile, the sixth pillar is health technology transformation, which focuses on information technology and biotechnology.
Sadikin stressed four key measures for maintaining health and preventing diseases: three blood-related checks and monitoring abdominal circumference.
He advised people to maintain their health by engaging in physical activity, such as exercising for at least 30 minutes a day and maintaining their diet.
Sadikin expressed belief that if those measures are taken, then the people can undergo health screening at the nearest integrated health service post (posyandu) or community health center (puskesmas).
"The method and actions are very easy. Check at a puskesmas to measure blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood fat, so you do not get diabetes, a heart attack, and so on. Do it once a month. It is free," he stated.
