The total value of aid delivered to Sintang and Melawi reached Rp526,866,800.Pontianak (ANTARA) -
The Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed relief aid worth around Rp526 million (US$34 thousand) to people affected by floods in Sintang and Melawi districts, West Kalimantan province.
"The assistance was provided by the Social Affairs Ministry through the West Kalimantan Social Affairs Office according to monitoring and assessments conducted by the ministry's local disaster response cadets (Tagana)," head of West Kalimantan's Tagana, Kamal, informed in Pontianak city on Tuesday.
He said that the ministry responded promptly to the report sharing the results of monitoring and assessments carried out by Tagana in Sintang and Melawi, West Kalimantan.
"The Social Affairs Ministry swiftly responded to the report by deploying teams to flood-hit regions in Sintang and Melawi districts on March 8, 2024, delivering three trucks loaded with logistics aid," he added.
Providing further details, he said that the aid included 1,800 packages of ready-to-eat food, one thousand packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, 200 packages of adult clothing, 100 packages of children's clothing, over 100 packages of kids ware, and 150 packages of family kits.
Kamal added that the ministry also provided 150 foldable tents, 150 sheets of beds, 200 blankets, and four water purifiers.
"The total value of aid delivered to Sintang and Melawi reached Rp526,866,800," he said.
He further said that the West Kalimantan Social Affairs Office and disaster response cadets are still distributing logistics aid to affected regions in the two districts.
"We will also continue to monitor and map out disaster-prone areas, and we are currently mulling over establishing refugee camps and public kitchens if the condition permits," he added.
