"Indonesia is committed to adaptive manpower policies and understands the importance of adopting new technologies while persevering in protecting the rights and well-being of workforces," Manpower Ministry's Secretary General Anwar Sanusi noted, as per the written statement received here, Wednesday.
Presenting his remarks before the International Labour Organization (ILO) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, Monday (March 11), Sanusi said that digitization has revolutionized the labor market and changed the work organization, structures, and nature.
As digitization provides new opportunities in bolstering work efficiency and productivity, Indonesia is actively implementing adaptive manpower policies to respond to challenges in work digitization, he stated.
The measure is essential to ensure sustainable development and employees' capability improvement, as they should be taught the necessary expertise and competency to grow in the digital economy, the ministry's secretary general explained.

"This is also important to realize inclusive policies in promoting talent management and providing equal opportunities to all individuals to contribute to the workforce," Sanusi stressed.
During the ILO meeting, experts from various fields presented the latest labor development and their suggestions to the ILO Governing Body.
Some issues discussed at the meeting are challenges and opportunities related to digitization, including AI technology and algorithm management in workspaces.
Meanwhile, Indonesia proposed to the assembly a regulation framework to protect the rights to career development, dignity, and self-fulfillment, as well as to fair treatment of individual workers in the digital era. Indonesia also encouraged all nations to participate in the effort to realize an inclusive, resilient, and just workspace in the future.
