Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno noted in his statement here on Friday that the coordination meeting aimed at increasing the understanding of policies and strategies for developing tourism destinations and the creative economy sector.
Through the meeting, the government sought to strengthen central and regional coordination and synchronize networks as well as to develop strategies, methods, and actions in growing tourism destinations and the creative economy sector.
The ministry's Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development, Hariyanto, stated that 2024 is a key year, as it is the last benchmark for the achievement of the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
According to Hariyanto, 2024 also became a transition year for the 2025-2029 RPJMN towards the achievement of the Golden Indonesia vision.
Based on the technocratic design of RPJMN 2025-2029, the national tourism development strategy will focus on Lake Toba, Borobudur, Lombok-Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, Manado-Likupang, Bangka Belitung, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, Wakatobi, Morotai, and Raja Ampat in Papua.
The RPJMN also focuses on the Greater Area that includes the Regenerative Bali, Batam-Bintan and Jakarta, and the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Economic Superhub.
Meanwhile, priority locations for creative economy development are Jakarta, West Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Banten, Central Java, Bali, Riau Islands, East Kalimantan, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and South Sulawesi.
"In the technocratic design policy, one of the targets is the development of quality tourism destinations according to market preferences," Hariyanto remarked.
He stated that the destinations must be developed in line with the sustainable and regenerative tourism concept.
The ministry's main inspector, Bayu Aji, highlighted that the tourism and creative economy sector has, so far, recovered strongly after the COVID-19 pandemic despite not having reached the pre-pandemic level.
