"It will be led directly by President Jokowi in the near future," Ngabalin remarked when met at the Presidential Staff Office in Jakarta on Monday.
He noted that the transition team from President Jokowi's administration to the elected Prabowo-Gibran pair would be formed, although he did not specify the exact time.
The authority of the transition team is also a prerogative of the president, he added.
However, he believes that the government transition process in October 2024 will run smoothly and quickly.
"I am sure it will be smooth and very fast," he remarked.
Several experts and observers from various institutions assess that the elected president and vice president pair Prabowo-Gibran needs a transition team with clear functions to run the government.
The transition team will not only function to synchronize Jokowi's policies with the next government but also to facilitate the formation of the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet.
On the previous occasion, presidential candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto, while giving a speech to investors and bankers in Jakarta in early March, believed that the government transition in October 2024 would run smoothly since he is part of President Jokowi's team and also serves on his Onward Indonesia Cabinet as defense minister.
"God willing, I will be inaugurated on October 20, and I think the transition from the current government to the new government will be smooth. Of the three pairs of presidential candidates, my team openly admits that we are part of President Jokowi's team. We are not ashamed to admit that," he noted in his speech at the 2024 Mandiri Investment Forum.
