Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry stated that the potential economic turnover during the 2024 Eid holiday based on the ministry's survey reached Rp369.8 trillion, or US$22.8 billion.

"We say that the potential economic turnover figure is approximately Rp369.8 trillion," the ministry's expert staff, Nia Niscaya, stated in the weekly press conference as monitored online from here on Tuesday.

Niscaya remarked that the average expenditure per person while traveling during the Eid holiday reached Rp2.3 million, or US$142.

Meanwhile, if calculated based on the trip duration, tourists on a one-day trip spent Rp904,500 on average.

Furthermore, tourists on a trip of two to four days shelled out Rp3.5 million, while those on a week's trip spent Rp6.4 million, and those spending more than a week paid Rp7.5 million.

Public spending during the Eid holiday also included expenses borne on accommodation, transportation, consumption, and souvenirs.

Niscaya revealed that 49.5 percent of tourists undertook a single-day trip, while those on a trip of two to four days reached 36.2 percent.

In terms of accommodation, 34.5 percent of tourists spent their vacation in hotels and 26.9 percent in private-owned properties.

She explained that the calculation was based on data on the projection of public movements during this year's Eid holiday period by the Transportation Ministry.

Her side also took into account other driving factors, namely increased mobility, longer vacation or leave for civil servants and an increase in the people's purchasing power.

She noted that popular destinations among tourists are mostly located in Java Island, namely Malioboro Street in Yogyakarta; Parangtritis in Yogyakarta; Ciwidey, Bandung; Lembang, Bandung; Pangandaran, West Java; Puncak-Bogor; Ragunan Zoo, Jakarta; Borobudur, Central Java; and Bromo, East Java.

"This dominated in Java Island because the number (of population) is large," she explained.
