Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA) - The Lake Toba Authority Implementing Agency (BPODT) targeted the "Trail of The Kings" - Zero Edition, an epic trail run competition, to be listed in the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) calendar.

BPODT President Director Jimmy Bernando Panjaitan stated in Samosir, North Sumatra, on Saturday that inclusion of the "Trail of The Kings" - Zero Edition in the UTMB calendar can make it part of the world-class trail running series.

If the event is listed in the calendar, Panjaitan believed that Lake Toba, as one of Indonesia's super priority tourism destinations, will garner greater attention.

"This event is a trail running competition that we are targeting to be part of the UTMB world series. UTMB is a meeting place for world runners that will make Lake Toba more global," Panjaitan affirmed.

The agency's president director acknowledged that it is not easy to obtain a license from UTMB to hold an international trail running competition.

However, with the commitment and support of all elements, he believed that the Trail of The Kings can be included in the UTMB calendar.

"The success of the Trail of The Kings will be UTMB's consideration to include Lake Toba as one of its venues," he remarked.

In the implementation of the Trail of The Kings, he said, BPODT along with the Creation Sport Division, as the event organizer, will provide a new experience for participants.

"In addition to running, the Trail of The Kings offers incredible views that participants cannot find anywhere else. Participants can also follow the cultural story of the Batak tribe by following the migration path of ancient Batak kings," he remarked.

Moreover, the event will support ecotourism, geotourism, and adventure-based tourism development.

The "Trail of The Kings" - Zero Edition is scheduled in Samosir District, North Sumatra, on May 4-5, 2024.
