“Korlantas will deploy 1,530 personnel to assist the Bali Police,” Head of the Traffic Corps Inspector General Aan Suhanan stated during a send-off roll call in Jakarta on Thursday.
Suhanan remarked that apart from personnel, Korlantas would also field as many as 310 operational motorbikes and cars, including electric vehicles (EVs).
The inspector general explained that the police would use EVs for escorting and guarding VVIP guests, such as heads of state, participating in this year’s World Water Forum on May 18-25.
“We resort to electric vehicles to escort heads of state or their representatives,” he remarked, adding that Korlantas will coordinate with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) during the escort mission.

The police will be carrying out Operation Puri Agung 2024 on May 17-26 to provide security for side events of the 10th World Water Forum.
To that end, Korlantas will deploy the prepared personnel to Bali on May 10. Meanwhile, the operational vehicles have earlier departed for Bali by land.
The World Water Forum is a triennial event that convenes a range of critical issues, such as water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy resilience, and natural disaster mitigation.
In this year's edition of the forum that will highlight "Water for Shared Prosperity" as its theme, global leaders will meet to discuss water-related problems and identify solutions to water management issues.
The 10 World Water Forum is expected to result in a ministerial declaration that will pave the way for concrete projects, initiatives, and collaborative actions.
