Based on information received here on Friday, Minister Fauziah stated that the program has been regulated through Regulation of Manpower Minister of the Republic of Indonesia (Permenaker) Number 4 2023 concerning Social Security for Indonesian Migrant Workers, which was promulgated on February 22, 2023.
"Through this social security program, Indonesian migrant workers can get complete employment social security protection from before, during, and after work," she remarked in a meeting with Indonesian workers in Macau on Thursday (May 9).
Fauziah noted that this regulation was an improvement to the previous regulation, namely Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 18 of 2018, which was no longer in accordance with legal developments and needs.
The minister elaborated that in Permenaker Number 4 of 2024, there are seven new benefits and nine other benefits whose value had increased, while the dues that must be paid remain the same.
The minister expressed hope that the increase in benefits and various convenience services can provide better welfare for Indonesian workers employed in various countries of placement.
She also emphasized that these workers are not only heroes for their contribution to the national economy but they also act as ambassadors who introduce Indonesian tourism, culture, and culinary delights to people in other countries.
"Therefore, Indonesian migrant workers must work with gratitude, so that this can reflect Indonesia's image as a great nation, polite, law-abiding, and a nation that has superior human resources," the minister stated.
