Kudus, Central Java (ANTARA) - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) and the Ministry of Manpower simultaneously launched family planning services at the workplace at 24 companies spread across 24 provinces on Wednesday.

The launch event was centralized in Kudus, Central Java, and was attended by Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah.

"Of the 24 provinces participating in the launch of the family planning services today, it is targeted that each province appoints one company with at least 100 employees," deputy of family and reproductive health at the BKKBN, Wahidin, said in Kudus.

He informed that the family planning services are being provided for free. Under the services, companies that have health facilities and are registered will have their contraceptive needs met.

The family planning services will be expanded because, this year, the government is targeting to provide contraceptive services to 64 percent of the total couples of reproductive age in the country.

"The hope is, of course, that the poverty rate can be reduced because the poverty that has occurred so far is that the parents are classified as having low income but have quite a lot of children," he said.

Meanwhile, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said that the simultaneous family planning services are being provided to commemorate International Workers' Day on May 1 and National Family Day on June 29.

She said that the implementation of family planning is part of efforts to improve workers' welfare and health facilities to maintain their reproductive health.

"The impact is, of course, on workers' resilience, including prevention of stunting. This is also part of the big vision of 2045 Golden Indonesia and efforts to protect workers and their families by prioritizing aspects of reproductive health," she added.
