Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has announced that the main celebration for the 78th anniversary of Bhayangkara Day will take place at Jakarta's National Monument (Monas) Square on Monday afternoon.

Speaking to journalists after attending an interfaith prayer on Friday to mark Bhayangkara Day, he said the ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. and will include a roll call ceremony alongside various arts and cultural activities for public enjoyment.

He added that incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and President-elect Prabowo Subianto would be invited to it.

Bhayangkara Day, which falls on July 1, is a historic moment to commemorate the founding of Indonesia's National Police (Polri) in 1946.

Polri has faced significant challenges in recent times, including armed conflict in Papua, interprovincial and cross-border drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online gambling.

General Listyo has vowed to dismantle online gambling operations within Indonesia, targeting the four identified kingpins currently operating.

He emphasized collaboration between the government's online gambling task force and financial institutions, including the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), to achieve this goal.
