Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono, visited Baykar Technology in Istambul to learn about the Turkish defense company's combat drone and artificial intelligence (AI) for air defense.

During his visit on Saturday (June 29, 2024), Harjono received the latest Baykar profile and observed simulations of the Bayraktar Akinci Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), according to the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU).

He also received detailed information about the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) produced by the private Turkish defense company, the TNI-AU disclosed in a press statement issued here on Monday.

The Air Force chief of staff's visit to Baykar Technology was aimed at looking at new applications of UAV development and artificial intelligence in an endeavor to strengthen Indonesia's air defense capabilities.

Harjono said that his visit to the Turkish defense company specializing in UAVs, command and control, and artificial intelligence would hopefully strengthen Indonesia and Turkiye's bilateral ties.

As per its official website, Baykar Technology has been recorded as the first producer of Turkiye's first indigenous UAVs.

Due to its self-financed R&D activities and 93 percent localization rate, Baykar, which currently employs more than 4,500 workers, has delivered more than 500 UAVs since 1986.

The company claims that its research and development (R&D) capabilities include the complete design and development of UAV systems, aerial platforms, and ground components with their subsystems.
