Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi on Friday said that it has been two days since he started working from his official residence in the new national capital (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

"For the past two days, I have been working at the minister's official residence in IKN," he informed in a ministry statement received here.

Sumadi said that he has been working from IKN since Thursday.

He is occupying the official residence for ministers located in the IKN Central Government district (KIPP).

From there, he has held several meetings with a number of parties.

"While I am here, I have held a number of coordination meetings with several parties to discuss issues related to the readiness of transportation infrastructure in IKN," he said.

One of the meetings was with deputy for facilities and infrastructure at the IKN Authority (OIKN), Silvia Halim, and director of road development at the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry, Wida Nurfaida, on Friday afternoon.

"On the second day of working in IKN, I reviewed the transportation project here to ensure everything is going as planned. One of them is the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART)," the minister disclosed.

During the meeting, he discussed the progress of ART infrastructure and its development, the ART trial plan, and the traffic management plan for IKN for the Independence Day ceremony on August 17, 2024.

"In addition to reviewing the ART line, I also held a coordination meeting with the PUPR Ministry and the OIKN from the official residence," he said.

ART will be a smart transportation mode that will operate in KIPP, he added.

Sumadi said that the ART train set is scheduled to arrive in Nusantara at the end of July 2024, and will delivered from China to Balikpapan Port.
