BRIN Deputy for Research and Innovation Facilitation, Agus Haryono, noted in his statement here on Monday that the support is realized through the Indonesia Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (IBSAP) 2025-2045 document.
According to Haryono, the document required a slight adjustment in accordance with the new law that has replaced Law No. 5 of 1990 on the Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems.
This document was formulated in collaboration with the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) and the Environment and Forestry Ministry.
"Several new terms need to be adjusted due to the passage of the law in lieu of Law No. 5 of 1990. If agreed, the IBSAP document, the Biodiversity Status Book, and the Ekoregion book that BRIN is working on need to be adjusted," he remarked.
Meanwhile, he ensured that BRIN's writing team would work hard to catch up with the required adjustment.
Haryono explained that the document includes the institutional framework, which shows that BRIN's position in this case is appropriate, along with the global funding that has been running.
Meanwhile, Bappenas' Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources, Vivi Yulaswati, highlighted BRIN's strategic role in developing the bioeconomy and sustainable biodiversity management.
"Indonesia is asked to submit the document after the launch on August 8, 2024," Yulaswati stated.
Indonesia has had the Biodiversity Action Plan document since 1993, which was adjusted and updated to align with the results of COP-CBD.
This document was then refined into the 2015-2020 IBSAP document, which is an important foundation for optimizing the value of biodiversity and balancing its preservation.
