Prabowo's presence complemented the solemn ceremony that was held in a magnificent open square bedecked with national ornaments.
During the event, Prabowo sat in the front row beside President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on the stage specially prepared for important guests.
Other high-ranking officials and community leaders also participated in the ceremony secured strictly by the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres), the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).
The ceremony to commemorate Independence Day in 2024 was held at two locations simultaneously and in a hybrid format, namely in IKN Nusantara and at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
President Jokowi led the ceremony in IKN, while Vice President Ma'ruf Amin led the ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
The celebration of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day became a special moment because, for the first time, the Heirloom Red and White Flag was raised in the new capital city.
This year, the theme of the Indonesian Independence Day is "New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia," which showed the momentum of Indonesia's transition, namely in welcoming the new capital city and the transition of government.
Some high-ranking officials present at the IKN ceremony comprised People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Susatyo, Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuldjono.
Other attendees at the ceremony were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
