Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno is exploring collaboration with Saudi Arabian game and e-sports company Savvy Games Group to develop the game sub-sector in the country.

"So, at this moment, we want to see what potential collaborations we can explore, what we can collaborate on," Uno said in a statement issued on Thursday, following his meeting with representatives of the Savvy Games Group at the Gamescom 2024 event in Koelnmesse Halle, Germany.

Savvy Games Group is dedicated to supporting game and e-sports globally, leading global game investment, supporting game developers and technology innovators, as well as facilitating and providing fair access to the fast-growing and dynamic game sector.

Representatives from the company are expected to visit Indonesia to organize an international game event in Bali or Jakarta, Uno informed.

He noted that the number of game players in Indonesia is currently recorded at 100 million to 200 million on various platforms.

Currently, he explained, Indonesia also has a presidential regulation on accelerating the development of the national game industry, which aims to strengthen the local game ecosystem and industry, given that the game industry is one of the creative economy sub-sectors that is relatively strong and growing rapidly.

Savvy Games Group's chief executive officer, Brian Ward, said that the company is currently exploring investment and expansion into several game companies, including in Indonesia.

"Now, we are the fourth-largest game developer in the world, and the first in America. And this is the beginning of our investment in game development. We are constantly looking for studio teams and companies everywhere to collaborate with or to add to our portfolio," he added.

"So, with Savvy, we are friends with everyone, and hopefully, they all like us and we are excited to you know, look far into the Southeast Asian market for expansion and collaboration in game development," Ward said.
