Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officiated the Maternal and Child Health Service Building at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung City, West Java, on Thursday.

"Today, I inaugurate the Maternal and Child Health Service Building of Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung," he remarked during the ceremony.

In his speech, the president highlighted the government's commitment to continually improving access and quality of health services for the entire community.

He also lauded the well-equipped facilities at the building, which he considered to be quite modern.

"The layout, the furniture, and the equipment are good and modern," he remarked.

According to the president, the new building is equipped with 490 beds and various modern medical facilities for maternal and child services, with a budget of Rp389 billion (USD1 = around Rp15,422).

"It is fine by us to spend the budget with this type of quality for the hospital. The responsibility to prepare the budget lies with the Health Ministry," Jokowi remarked.

With such facilities in place, the president is optimistic that the Hasan Sadikin Hospital Maternal and Child Health Service Building would reduce people's dependence on health services in other countries.

"People seeking IVF treatment or sick children do not need to go to Singapore or Malaysia. Just go to Hasan Sadikin Hospital," he remarked.

The president hit a siren button and signed the inscription at the building, marking the inauguration of the RSHS Bandung Maternal and Child Health Service Building.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Director of RSHS Bandung Rachim Dinata Marsidi, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Triadi Machmudin, and Bandung Acting Mayor Bambang Tirtoyuliono were also present at the event to accompany the president.

This hospital inauguration is part of the president's working visit to West Java. Earlier, he inaugurated several road and bridge infrastructures, as well as the Leuwikeris Dam, among others.
