Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - The Foreign Ministry highlighted Parliament's key role in supporting South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), including the long-term goals of Golden Indonesia 2045 and Africa's Agenda 2063. "Legislative support is essential for fostering an environment where international development cooperation can thrive," said Rina Setyawati, Director for International Development Cooperation, on the sidelines of the Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum (IAPF) 2024 meeting on Sunday.

During the discussion, Setyawati emphasized the importance of legislators in creating laws and policies that promote international development cooperation across various sectors.

She also pointed out that parliaments are crucial in budget monitoring, ensuring allocated resources are adequate for development initiatives, and promoting transparency and accountability.

Setyawati noted that parliaments play a significant role in diplomacy by advocating for stronger cooperation with partners in both bilateral and multilateral forums.

Additionally, she highlighted the role of parliaments in supervision and evaluation to ensure projects meet development goals and deliver tangible benefits.

Setyawati added that Indonesia has been actively involved in SSTC and international development cooperation in recent years, with over 1,000 programs, including training, workshops, expert missions, scholarships, and technical assistance.

These programs span several sectors: agriculture, marine and fisheries, energy, democracy and governance, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), health, infrastructure, disaster risk management, and women's empowerment.

They have benefited 13,000 people from 150 countries, including 44 African nations.

Regarding Golden Indonesia 2045 and Africa's Agenda 2063, programs are set to run from 2024 to 2029, focusing on five priority sectors: energy and minerals, health, agriculture, education, and social and community development.

"We believe the scope can extend beyond these five sectors to address the diverse needs of African countries," she remarked.
