Tangerang (ANTARA) - The work to construct the world's first MotoGP museum in the Special Economic Zone of Mandalika, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara Province, is almost complete, according to the Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC).

"The development has progressed to nearly 97 percent. Hence, we can already clearly see the shape of the museum's structures," ITDC President Director Ari Respati remarked in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday.

He highlighted that the MotoGP museum building, being constructed in the north of the VIP deluxe tribune of the Mandalika Circuit, spans 400 square meters and is designated as a permanent facility that tells the history of the world's most prestigious motorbike race.

"This (museum) will not be open during a MotoGP period, but it will serve as a permanent facility. Our vision is to work together with Dorna and Pertamina to erect a building that sheds light on the history of MotoGP," Respati noted.

In addition to showcasing the history of MotoGP, he remarked that the museum currently being developed under collaboration between Indonesia and Dorna Sports is also envisioned as a place that pictures the history of the Mandalika Circuit itself.

"We will also incorporate the history of the circuit so that the museum can offer a history lesson to the public. Moreover, this museum will stand as another tourism destination," he explained.

Meanwhile, ITDC Operations Director and Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024, Troy Reza Warokka, highlighted that the MotoGP museum would be the first of its kind in the world.

"Such a museum only exists in Mandalika, Indonesia. Hopefully, this museum will act as a good legacy that will help shoot up the tourist count, ultimately boosting the economy," he stated.
