Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi dubbed the ongoing power transitional period at the end of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) tenure as the smoothest since the inception of the Republic of Indonesia.

"This is the best, smoothest government transitional period. The people are fully supporting Prabowo (Subianto) and Gibran (Rakabuming Raka), who will succeed Mr. Jokowi," he noted in a press release received in Jakarta on Friday.

Setiadi made the statement after attending the final cabinet plenary meeting chaired by the president at Garuda Palace, Nusantara, East Kalimantan. President-elect and Defense Minister Prabowo was among the participants.

During the meeting, the minister said, President Jokowi called on his aides in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet to maintain a conducive situation ahead of the inauguration of the president- and vice-president-elect next month.

"President Joko has instructed all ministers to fully support the president-elect's programs and ensure that the government transition runs effectively without disrupting public services. He has also pushed for the finalization of regulations that can support the incoming government," he remarked.

The minister underlined that a smooth power transition is essential for the next administration to work promptly to serve the nation.

Moreover, the head of state had earlier urged the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) to contribute to the smooth running of the power transition, he added.

"The president has told the TNI and Polri that Indonesia had entered a critical period marked with the imminent presidential and vice presidential inaugurations and regional head elections. Thus, the TNI and Polri play a crucial role in maintaining order and security," he stated.

President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who emerged victorious in the 2024 Presidential Election in February, will be inaugurated on October 20 this year.

Meanwhile, the regional head elections will take place simultaneously across Indonesia later on November 27.
