Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Tuesday launched 27 road sections constructed under the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads (IJD) program in Naioni village, Manulai II sub-district, Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province.

"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim (in the name of God), the road repair and construction in NTT under the IJD program, which cost Rp737 billion (around US$48.4 million), is inaugurated," he said.

The 27 road sections, whose construction began in 2023, span 217 kilometers overall.

The roads are spread across 20 districts in NTT, and one of them is located in Naioni village, Kupang city.

President Widodo said that roads are important infrastructure for the community, therefore the government is continuing to develop them.

The Head of State noted that roads can support and speed up the transport of people, goods, and logistics.

Furthermore, he expressed the hope that the budget of Rp737 billion for road construction would be sufficient to repair all road sections in the province, like the one in Naioni village.

"As we can see, there are no holes on this smooth road, and the community can use it," he remarked.

Widodo is currently on a two-day working visit to East Nusa Tenggara. After inaugurating the IJD road in Kupang on Wednesday (October 2, 2024), he will open the Temef Dam in Timor Tengah Selatan district and the Napan cross-border post in Timor Tengah Utara district.

After that, Widodo is scheduled to visit Alor and West Sumba districts on Sumba Island.

He will spend the night in Kupang city before continuing his agenda the next day, according to information from the Presidential Secretariat.
