Jakarta (ANTARA) - State guests from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka on October 20, 2024. Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Eddy Soeparno, delivered the remarks at the parliament complex here on Wednesday.

"The guests from friendly countries will be present because there is a spirit of solidarity among ASEAN countries. We are waiting for the confirmation of who will be present, whether the head of state, the head of government, or representatives," he said.

Apart from ASEAN, there will be many state guests from other countries at the inauguration, he added. However, his side is still waiting for their confirmation to determine the exact number of guests.

"We hope there are many (state guests), maybe larger than the number of heads of state who were present at the inauguration of Mr. Joko Widodo in 2019," he said.

Earlier, the Deputy Speaker of MPR, Abcandra Muhammad Akbar Supratman, said that around 21 state guests from friendly countries, including ASEAN countries, will be present at the Prabowo-Gibran inauguration.

The ceremony will take place at the Nusantara Building of the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, at 10 a.m. local time on October 20.

The 2024 presidential election candidates and all leaders of political parties who participated in the election have been invited to join the inauguration procession.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo has confirmed that he will attend the ceremony, MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani said on Monday.
