Head of the ministry's Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA) Work Group, Dika Yudistira, on Thursday, said that it is mandatory for the government to provide compensation to the kin of those who died in the flood, which struck the city in late August 2024.
"Today, the Ministry of Social Affairs will fulfill the state's responsibility by handing out such compensations," he added.
Yudistira then informed that the North Maluku and Ternate governments contributed to the provision of the assistance.
"We would like to thank the North Maluku provincial government and Ternate municipal government for collecting the requisite data and providing the Ministry of Social Affairs with other forms of administrative support to make this aid provision possible," he said.
Acting regional secretary of North Maluku, Abubakar Abdullah, and Ternate acting mayor Tahmid Wahab were among those who attended the assistance handover event.
