Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo, and Deputy Chief of the Indonesian Military Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita, synergized to realize food self-sufficiency.

"Today, we held a coordination meeting with the minister of public works and deputy chief of the Army Staff to ensure self-sufficiency (in food) in the future," Minister Sulaiman remarked.

He remarked that the meeting was held to ensure that all infrastructure and facilities for agricultural production are available to achieve food self-sufficiency targets set in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's directives.

Sulaiman said he was grateful for the notable progress in the synergy between the PU Ministry and the Army.

The minister is optimistic that if synergy among all parties, including the PU Ministry and the Army, runs smoothly, Indonesia will soon achieve food self-sufficiency.

"God willing, if this all goes according to our work plan, we are optimistic that we will be self-sufficient as soon as possible as directed by the president," Sulaiman remarked.

He explained that at the meeting, they held comprehensive discussions on agricultural production facilities.

"We discussed everything, including irrigation, seeds, and (distribution of) fertilizers, for which some problems (were encountered) before," he revealed.

On the same occasion, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo expressed his side's readiness to support the Agriculture Ministry by building irrigation networks to irrigate agricultural lands in Java Island and other islands.
