Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti is optimistic that the "7 Great Habits of Indonesian Children Movement" can help accelerate the realization of a golden generation in the future.

The minister made this statement while participating in a gymnastics exercise event with teachers and students at public junior high school SMPN 4 Pekanbaru, Riau Province, as part of his working visit agenda on Friday.

"I believe that if Indonesian children are healthy, cheerful, confident, mentally strong, and have good character, we can achieve our goals of Golden Indonesia more quickly," Mu'ti noted in the ministry's statement.

He emphasized that the 7 Great Habits encompass rising early, engaging in prayer, exercising, consuming healthy and nutritious food, studying diligently, socializing, and ensuring adequate rest. He noted that consistent practice of these habits can contribute to developing an exceptional generation.

"These habits must be implemented as part of extracurricular activities in all schools in Indonesia and around the world," he added.

During the event, a ninth-grade student at SMPN 4 Pekanbaru, Farel Daffa, stated that practicing the 7 Great Habits has significantly improved his fitness and stamina, facilitating better management of his daily activities.

"Since I started doing gymnastics every morning, I feel more eager to study and feel less sleepy," he remarked.

"My health has improved, and my immunity has increased. I used to struggle to get up early, but now I wake up early more often," he noted.

Asmawati, a counseling teacher at SMPN 4 Pekanbaru, noted that the rapid advancements in the digital world have influenced how young people interact and develop.

She believes that implementing the 7 Great Habits will bolster students' discipline and sense of responsibility.
