"Today and onwards we will resolve marine waste," Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said at the event on Sunday.
Other ministerial ranks that participated at the event are Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa and Deputy Minister of Environment Diaz Hendropriyono.
Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono was also present in the beach cleanup effort, which also took place at Jimbaran Beach and Kelan Beach.
Meanwhile, several ambassadors also participated in this event, namely the Norwegian ambassador to Indonesia, Rut Kruger Griven, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, Abdullah Salem Aldhaheri, and representatives of the Danish and British ambassadors.
The activity also involved officers from the IX Udayana Military Command, the Bali Police, the Bali Provincial Government, the Badung District Government, students, business owners, and other related agencies, with participants reaching around 8,600 people.
Earlier, ministers from the Red and White Cabinet also participated in the beach clean-up at Kuta Beach on January 4. However, plastic waste is still seen on several beaches in Badung District, Bali.
Minister Nurofiq said his party had formed a team based on the Presidential Regulation Number 83 of 2018 concerning the handling of marine waste.
"We already have a team with a daily responsibility to support waste management, especially marine waste in Bali," he noted.
His party has also assigned officials to ensure the plastic waste issue in Bali can be resolved.
"Bali is the face of Indonesia. We will not hesitate to make various efforts to improve waste management in Bali," he emphasized.
In addition, the government also teamed up with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), supported by Norway and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to assist in 14 trash booms placed at rivers in Bali to trap the trash and prevent it from going to the sea.
