"This is the police's first manpower desk in the world," Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo remarked in Jakarta on Friday.
He explained that this desk was created in response to appeals from workers who sought police intervention in resolving conflicts related to industrial relations.
Thus, the manpower desk was formed to serve as a bridge between employers and workers affected by industrial conflicts.
"We hope that Polri can act as a mediator or an intermediary. Our goal is to resolve disputes using labor and criminal laws as the ultimate remedy," Listyo stated.
He explained that the establishment of this desk had garnered positive responses from various stakeholders and yielded favorable results since its inception.
"This also enables our officers to interact more easily with workers, especially at the local and regional police levels. This will also help officials in their efforts to maintain public order and security," he remarked.
The Polri Manpower Desk was officially launched on January 20.
