Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government supports the bill on the Third Amendment to Law Number 19 of 2003 on the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to be discussed at the Second Level Plenary Meeting of the House of Representatives (DPR).

The support was expressed by Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, who represented the president, minister of SOEs, finance minister, and the minister of state secretary, during a working meeting with DPR Commission VI at the Parliament Complex here on Saturday.

"After careful consideration and input from various factions, I, representing President Prabowo Subianto, want to express our support to the bill on the Third Amendment to Law Number 19 of 2003 regarding SOEs to be discussed further," Agtas remarked.

He highlighted several key points in the bill:

  • First, granting ministers power as the government's representative.
  • Second, establishing the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to optimize the management of SOE dividends.
  • Third, strengthening the governance of SOEs through the roles of regulators, shareholders, and supervisors, as well as improving coordination among ministers and agencies.
  • Fourth, confirming the status of SOEs' assets as distinct state assets to facilitate corporate actions.
"It is expected that these will enhance the competitiveness of SOEs and support Indonesia's economic growth targets set by the current president," he remarked.

Earlier, SOE Minister Erick Thohir stated that SOE assets would be consolidated under BPI Danantara, which is pending inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto.

He noted that his side welcomes the consolidation of SOE asset management through Danantara, based on the principles of good corporate governance (GCG).
