Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Defense has inducted 787 reserve component members from within its ranks and the Indonesian Army for this year.

The inducted members include civil servants and government employees holding work agreements with the ministry and the Army.

Secretary general of the Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo, said that the reserve component represents the spirit of mutual cooperation and shared responsibility in maintaining national unity and solidity.

"Every member of the reserve component is a representative of the nation who is ready to defend the country with all their might and soul," he said while conveying a message from the Minister of Defense, according to a statement released by the ministry here on Saturday.

He invited the new reserve component members to show the world that Indonesia is strong and independent in this challenging era.

He said that the threats the nation is facing are no longer conventional, but also include cyber, economic, and propaganda threats that must be tackled with high preparedness.

Utomo emphasized that the reserve component members must be present as a force that is ready to be mobilized at any time.

"We are a great nation with a long history of struggle. Let's inherit the spirit of the heroes by becoming a strong defense for the nation," he said.

Representing the Minister of Defense, Utomo led the ceremony for the designation of the new reserve component members.

The ceremony marked a historic milestone with the designation of 287 individuals from the Defense Ministry Unit Organization and 500 individuals from the Indonesian Army Unit Organization as reserve component members.

The ceremony ended with a demonstration of skills, including the assembly and disassembly of weapons and symbol of combat readiness, as a manifestation of discipline and unity.
