"We need to regulate the merger model for TVRI, RRI, and ANTARA, as well as its roadmap," Director General of Digital Ecosystem at the ministry, Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, stated during a hearing with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday.
During the meeting on the Broadcasting Law amendment, he highlighted the need to strengthen institutional management of the nation's public broadcasters in multi-platform broadcasting.
Abdullah also underscored the need to improve single-platform broadcasting and its infrastructure amid the merger process of the three institutions, calling it "a significant issue."
He stated that multi-platform broadcasting will play a strategic role in enhancing national integration, development, and livelihoods while also strengthening human resources, morality, and character development.
This approach would benefit the sustainability of national broadcasting by reinforcing the role of broadcasting companies in the national economy and adopting new technologies, Abdullah said.
He noted that multi-platform broadcasting will further "encourage innovation and creativity in radio and television broadcasting and promote diverse, creative, and engaging content in local broadcasts."
Abdullah added that it can also encourage the younger generation to contribute to the development of creative and innovative broadcasting content.
