Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati expressed optimism that food prices will remain stable during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr this year.

Speaking at a press conference on the March 2025 State Budget report on Thursday, the minister noted that rice prices had decreased significantly --down 22 percent year-on-year and 2.5 percent year-to-date.

Rice, a key commodity influencing inflation, has seen price reductions primarily due to sufficient stock availability.

"Indonesia is in a relatively secure position as we approach the Eid holiday. We have not observed any significant price surges," she stated.

Typically, food prices tend to rise in the lead-up to the holiday, particularly for commodities such as chicken and beef.

According to data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS), the price of premium eggs stood at Rp27,800 per kilogram as of Thursday morning.

The prices for broiler chicken, quality I beef, and quality II beef were recorded at Rp31,250 per kg, Rp130,400 per kg, and Rp124,800 per kg, respectively.

Rice prices were as follows: lower quality I at Rp12,850 per kg, lower quality II at Rp12,450 per kg, medium quality I at Rp14,150 per kg, medium quality II at Rp13,750 per kg, super quality I at Rp15,250 per kg, and super quality II at Rp14,850 per kg.

"As we prepare to celebrate the holiday, food prices remain exceptionally stable. Hopefully, this trend will continue," Indrawati added.

The government remains committed to implementing various policies to ensure food affordability during Ramadan, including market operations offering lower-priced goods, as well as facilitating and supervising food distribution.
