In a statement received here on Monday, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that several regions, such as Lamongan, have implemented the free screening well, supported by several factors, such as the commitment of the regional government and the availability of facilities and health personnel.
According to the minister, the achievement reflects the high enthusiasm of the community for the health services provided by the government.
The health screening program, he said, is one of the biggest health initiatives carried out by the Ministry of Health.
"This program is targeted to reach more than 280 million Indonesians with the aim of improving health quality comprehensively," he added.
He explained that through this program, people can access various health screening services for conditions ranging from heart disease to mental health issues.
Sadikin further said that in particular, the program pays more attention to pregnant women and under-five children with the help of early screening to detect potential health problems early.
Since the program was started on February 10, 2025, health screening services to people aged 0–6 years and those aged 18 years and above have been provided on the birthdays of the individuals, he informed.
Starting from July 2025, the program will be expanded to schools, targeting children aged 7–17 years.
According to Sadikin, screening for pregnant women and under-five children will be carried out at community health centers and integrated health posts, including hormone screening, detection of congenital heart disease, dental examinations, as well as eye, ear, and blood pressure checks.
He said that for adults and older adults, the program focuses on determining the risks of stroke and cancer as well as mental and physical health.
The minister expressed the hope that other regions can accelerate the implementation of the program by using the regional budget, including the physical and non-physical special allocation funds.
