“Today, the SAR team will be dispatched. It consists of 53 personnel assisted by security and one Boeing 747 aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Air Force," BNPB Head Suharyanto remarked at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Tuesday.
Departing Jakarta at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (UTC+7), the Indonesian SAR team will reach Myanmar within a short time.
Upon arrival, they will immediately carry out humanitarian missions, including searching for those trapped in piles of building rubble, establishing humanitarian posts, and providing medical assistance.
Following today's departure, BNPB and the Indonesian Military (TNI) will send another team on Thursday (April 3) to enhance the evacuation process for earthquake victims in Myanmar.
“Later, on Thursday, two planes will depart, including one Garuda Indonesia 747-800 aircraft containing personnel of the official delegation," Suharyanto explained.

He stated that under the coordination of BNPB, the Indonesian team will be on duty for a week.
However, Suharyanto estimated that the humanitarian mission would last a month, based on past experiences in other disaster-hit areas.
Suharyanto ensured his personnel would remain prepared to continue their operations if the situation required an extended deployment.
He concluded that the personnel will continue to carry out their tasks until the Myanmar authority declare the conclusion of victim searches.
