Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health addressed the sexual harassment case at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung, allegedly involving a doctor enrolled in the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) at Padjajaran University and targeting a patient's attendant.

"We have imposed strict sanctions in the form of prohibiting the student from continuing his lifelong residency at RSHS, and we have returned him to the university. The matter of further punishment comes under the authority of the university," the ministry's Director General of Advanced Health, Azhar Jaya, noted in a statement on Wednesday.

Jaya elaborated that Padjadjaran University (Unpad) and RSHS Bandung received a report of sexual violence allegedly committed by a PPDS participant from Unpad's Faculty of Medicine against a patient's family member in mid-March 2025 within the hospital premises.

Jaya said Unpad and RSHS Bandung strongly condemned all forms of violence, including sexual violence, within healthcare and academic settings and took several steps.

They have taken various measures, including assisting the victim in filing a report with the West Java Regional Police, safeguarding the privacy of the victim and the family, and dismissing the alleged perpetrator from the PPDS program.

The West Java Regional Police detained the alleged perpetrator, identified as PAP, 31.

"We are handling the case and have arrested PAP on March 23," Director of General Criminal Investigation of the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Surawan, stated.

He remarked that all processes had been carried out thoroughly, and his side had also found several pieces of evidence, such as drugs and condoms.

"Currently, the victim has received assistance from the West Java Regional Police's Women and Children's Service Unit (PPA)," he added.

Surawan also said his side would release further details.

The incident gained widespread attention after the victim shared her experience on social media.
