"Based on our monitoring, celebrations in various regions are going smoothly so far," he informed in a release here on Thursday.
The assessment was based on a coordination meeting with the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), Defense Ministry, Home Ministry, National Police (Polri), and Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) at the TNI Headquarters in Jakarta, he said.
The minister also praised workers for helping maintain public order and safety during May Day events.
"Hopefully, the government, employers, and workers will continue aligning efforts to enhance Indonesia's global competitiveness," he said.
On May Day, workers across the country staged peaceful demonstrations to voice their demand for a better employment ecosystem.
In Jakarta, the focal point of the celebrations was a mass gathering at the National Monument (Monas), where President Prabowo Subianto addressed thousands of unionized workers.
During the event, president of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, emphasized that May Day is a crucial moment for workers to raise key concerns.
Speaking in front of President Prabowo, Iqbal demanded the abolition of the outsourcing system, the formation of a layoff mitigation task force, fairer wages, and the prompt passage of the Domestic Workers' Protection (PPRT) Bill, the Asset Forfeiture Bill, and a new Employment Law.
Meanwhile, Prabowo announced his plan to create the National Labor Welfare Council, which is expected to provide him with recommendations for improving labor-related regulations deemed unfavorable by workers.
He said that the planned council would also assist in advancing discussions on phasing out outsourcing practices.
Furthermore, the President guaranteed that the government and parliament will promptly deliberate and pass the PPRT Bill, with talks expected to conclude within three months.
Alluding to corruption, the head of state voiced his support for fast-tracking the legislation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill, which is designed to ensure that corrupt individuals are held financially accountable for their crimes.
