PCO Chief Expert Ricky Tamba told the press in Jakarta on Thursday that Prabowo is recognized as a nationalist figure who consistently defends workers' rights.
He stated that in addition to regularly attending discussion forums, President Prabowo is committed to raising the minimum wage and recognizing the role of informal workers, such as online motorcycle taxi drivers.
He further noted that after taking office, Prabowo promptly took concrete steps, including setting a 6.5 percent increase in the provincial minimum wage for 2025.
He then remarked that the president is currently preparing the Layoff Task Force to address the impact of job terminations among workers.
He noted that the task force will include representatives from the government, labor unions, and business players.
"This task force is formed based on the direct suggestion of the President of the Indonesian Trade Unions Confederation (KPSI), Said Iqbal, with a main mission of accelerating the process for finding new jobs for affected workers," he remarked.
In the field of economy, he noted that the government had succeeded in boosting investors' trust and contributed directly to job creation.
"The investment realization in January–March 2025 recorded an increase of 15.9 percent compared to the previous year," he remarked.
The government is currently improving the social data collection system through the National Socio-Economic Integrated Data (DTSEN) to ensure that government assistance reaches those in need, including workers.
On Thursday, President Prabowo attended the 2025 International Workers' Day commemoration event at the National Monument, Jakarta, accompanied by several Red and White Cabinet ministers.
In his speech, he pledged to fulfill workers' demands, including enacting the Domestic Workers' Protection Bill.
