“I reaffirm Indonesia’s commitment, which will never retreat, never stop in defending the rights of the Palestinian people to independence,” he said in his opening speech at the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC).
The session took place at the Indonesian Parliament building on Wednesday evening.
Expressing deep concern over the long-standing injustices endured by the Palestinian people, the President called on the international community, especially Islamic countries, to move beyond rhetoric and take real action.
“I repeat once again in this forum, now is the time, not just to discuss or issue resolutions. The Palestinian people have been victims for far too long. They need real, concrete action,” he stressed.
He also urged Islamic nations to set differences aside, overcome mutual distrust, and end rivalries for the greater good of their people.
He emphasized that organizations like the PUIC must become effective platforms for strengthening solidarity, promoting justice, and offering tangible solutions for Muslims around the world.
“This union was founded out of the realization that Islamic nations must strengthen cooperation in the face of global challenges and in defending the rights of Muslims wherever they are,” he added.
The President further underlined that the Indonesian Constitution explicitly mandates the country’s participation in building a world order based on independence, lasting peace, and social justice.
