Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has launched a special vehicle for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program to support efficient meal distribution.

The vehicle’s launch coincided with the inauguration of the Secretariat office of Kadin’s Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Maluku, and North Maluku (Balinusamatra) regional coordinator (Korwil), at the Granadi Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday.

Amirullah Abbas, vice chairperson of the Balinusamatra Korwil, Kadin Indonesia, said in Jakarta on Thursday that the first MBG vehicle, specifically designed to distribute nutritious food to the public, has been fitted with special racks to keep meals warm and prevent spillage during delivery.

“Until now, many foods arrived at their destinations in a disorganized condition. Therefore, we designed the racks so that the food would not spill and remain hot,” he informed.

He added that each such vehicle can carry up to one thousand food boxes in a single trip. The plan is to deploy two special vehicles for each MBG distribution area.

In the initial phase, the Balinusamatra Korwil will distribute ten vehicles across the five provinces.

“My hope is that, with this program, people across Indonesia can achieve proper nutrition so that stunting no longer occurs. This is incredible because people who once could only afford rice and crackers can now eat chicken and fish every day,” he said.

According to Abbas, the public’s response to the MBG program has been very positive. He is aiming to continue increasing the number of special vehicles as the MBG program expands to various provinces.

“The more MBG programs approved by the government, the more vehicles we will acquire. And I believe this is a fantastic program,” he added.

Meanwhile, Taufan Eko Nugroho Rotorasiko, vice chairperson, organizational affairs, Kadin Indonesia, praised all Balinusamatra Korwil administrators for their dedication in fulfilling their organizational roles.

“I give the highest appreciation to the Korwil team. Their enthusiasm is extraordinary. I hope this spirit will be maintained and even increased so that, God willing, for the next four and a half years, this partnership and cooperation will continue to run smoothly,” he added.
