Baznas' Head of Distribution and Utilization, Saidah Sakwan, stated that the food aid, delivered on Saturday (June 7), reflects the agency’s humanitarian commitment to supporting people in times of crisis.
"We hope this assistance will ease the survivors' burden and ensure their access to nutritious meals during this emergency," Sakwan noted in her office's statement cited here on Monday.
Sakwan revealed that part of the aid was sourced from Baznas' Eid al-Adha animal sacrifice initiative, which aims to distribute meat from Qurbani animals to vulnerable communities, including disaster victims.
"Praise be to God, even during this difficult time, survivors were still able to benefit from sacrificial meat prepared into nutritious meals," she remarked.
The official then extended the philanthropic agency's appreciation to all parties involved in making the food distribution possible.
"We would also like to thank the donors who entrusted their sacrificial animals to Baznas. Praise be to God, the meat was distributed accurately to those in need, creating a positive impact on the community," she affirmed.
Baznas envisions the Food Bank program as a strategic effort to ensure access to healthy, nutritious food for underprivileged communities and people in distress through multi-stakeholder collaboration.
The agency empowered this program to contribute to emergency measures following the fire that ravaged approximately 500 semi-permanent houses in Kapuk Muara Village, Penjaringan Sub-district, North Jakarta, on Friday (June 6).
Data from the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) shows that the disaster affected about two thousand residents from 480 families.
The North Jakarta municipal government reported that 1,387 victims had taken shelter in 12 emergency tents.
