“Pilgrims are advised to keep themselves in good condition and stay healthy, especially since the return trip is long and physically demanding,” said Akhmad Fauzin, Head of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, during a virtual press conference on Saturday.
“We pray that the return journey proceeds safely and smoothly, and that all pilgrims return home in good health and attain the status of Hajj,” he added.
Earlier, Fauzin reminded pilgrims to pay attention to baggage allowances and airline regulations for the return trip.
Each pilgrim is allowed to carry two pieces of luggage: one large suitcase weighing up to 32 kilograms and one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 7 kilograms.
In addition, pilgrims were advised not to carry prohibited items and to clearly label their luggage for easier identification upon arrival in Indonesia.
“Do not bring prohibited items, and ensure valuables are stored safely. Label your luggage clearly to make it easier to retrieve when you arrive home,” Fauzin said.
Items prohibited in checked baggage include Zamzam water, aerosol products, power banks, toys with batteries exceeding 20,000 mAh, and cash totaling Rp100 million (approximately US$6,146) or more.
Bringing home the belongings of deceased pilgrims will be the responsibility of the Hajj cluster’s accompanying officers, Fauzin added.
