Jakarta (ANTARA) - Formula E organizers have expressed interest in including the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in Ancol, Jakarta, in the 2026 race calendar, with contract renewal negotiations currently underway.

“I hope it (the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit) will be (included) in the next season (in 2026),” co-founder and chief championship officer of Formula E, Alberto Longo, told the media here on Thursday.

Longo praised the circuit, highlighting that despite being located in an urban area, it does not disrupt the surrounding environment. He also emphasized the strong public enthusiasm for the event, which has been felt by both organizers and participants.

“They (the drivers and teams) feel it when they walk around—how people cheer for them,” he remarked.

He noted that Jakarta has become one of the largest international fan bases for Formula E, which is a key reason organizers are eager to continue hosting the race in the city. The current contract for the Jakarta E-Prix concludes this year, prompting discussions for renewal.

Longo confirmed that several stakeholders, including the central government, the Jakarta provincial government, and Formula E management, are working to ensure Jakarta’s inclusion in future race calendars.

“We are talking to different stakeholders to renew the contract,” he stated.

Longo and his team are currently in Jakarta for the 2025 Jakarta E-Prix, set to take place on Saturday, June 21. This year marks the 11th season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, with 11 teams from various countries competing.

As part of the lead-up to the event, organizers held the “Formula E Paddock Tour and Unboxing of the GEN3 2025 Car” on Thursday.

PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), the Jakarta government-owned company organizing the event locally, estimates that the 2025 Jakarta E-Prix will attract around 20,000 spectators.
