Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri emphasized that Indonesia must explore and promote green commodities, as the global market has started to shift to sustainable trade.

She assessed that community awareness of the growth of the green economy already exists. In the context of trade, it is deemed necessary for the government to explore ways to develop green commodities.

"This issue receives public attention. In the context of trade, we should boost and promote the economy to advance the green economy," she remarked at the Indonesian Sustainable Trade and Investment Report 2025 event in Jakarta on Friday.

Putri affirmed that the Indonesian government is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. This target has also been agreed upon by various parties and is being pursued jointly.

In the trade sector, there are trade agreements that prioritize environmentally friendly commodities, from upstream to downstream.

"I want to encourage an improvement of awareness, and we in the government are also committed to working together to find the best solution," she remarked.

She noted that countries are currently facing various similar economic challenges. According to the deputy minister, Indonesia continues to strive to improve trade relations with others, especially the United States and the European Union.

Putri further affirmed that bilateral relations between countries have been strengthened through collaborations and cooperation.

In addition, the Indonesian government, especially the Ministry of Trade, continues to monitor the change in consumption habits in Indonesia. This is deemed essential as Indonesia's economic growth is mainly driven by the consumption sector.

"We should strengthen the community's habits, which are also part of the driving force of the national economic growth," the deputy minister remarked.
