This is seen as a necessary step, he noted, as PLBN Serasan is being prepared to serve as an entry and exit point for international cruise ships.Natuna, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - The Serasan Border Crossing Post (PLBN) in Natuna District, Riau Islands Province, has organized an English learning activity for students on Serasan Island through direct interaction with foreign tourists.
Head of PLBN Serasan, Wendriady, confirmed here on Sunday that the activity was held on June 21 at Karang Haji Island and on June 22 in Serasan Sub-district, involving a total of 15 students.
In its implementation, he said, PLBN Serasan collaborated with local tour guides who acted as intermediaries between the students and tourists from the United Kingdom.
The activity was carried out with the consent of the foreign visitors, who were among the participants of the Sail to Natuna program.
He said the activity is considered important to help the younger generation and the local community on Serasan Island become more accustomed to communicating with international tourists visiting the area.
“We see this as a first step to help build the children’s confidence in speaking English. This will become an important asset for their future,” he said.
Going forward, Wendriady added, PLBN Serasan will open more opportunities for the community to enhance their foreign language skills, especially English.
This is seen as a necessary step, he noted, as PLBN Serasan is being prepared to serve as an entry and exit point for international cruise ships.
“We want to raise awareness and open space for collaboration with various parties, including individuals, community organizations, and government agencies, to improve the quality of human resources in this border region, especially on Serasan Island,” he stated.
Meanwhile, local tour guide Samsul Bahri said that a private English tutor from Serasan also took part in the activity.
He explained that the program is a form of practical learning that allows students to directly engage with foreign tourists.
