“This achievement is the result of the athletes’ exceptional physical and mental preparedness, built through intensified national training since January 2025,” said Tommy Paulus Hermawan, chair of the Indonesian Mixed Martial Arts Association (Pertacami), in a statement received Tuesday.
The 17-member Indonesian team brought home two gold medals, seven silver medals, and five bronze medals.
Hermawan noted that the athletes overcame several challenges during the competition, including cold weather and a 10-hour time difference.
“To help them adapt, the athletes received daily medical support during both acclimatization and competition stages. This included physical condition monitoring, injury treatment, stretching, and sports massages,” he said.
With 14 medals, Indonesia continues to make its mark on the amateur MMA world stage.
Indonesia’s participation aimed not only to maintain competitive performance but also to enhance the country’s image on the global stage through sports.
“This result proves that long-term training and the application of sports science can yield strong outcomes,” Hermawan said.
He expressed pride in the young athletes’ achievements and reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing talent from an early age to produce future world champions.
