Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the Indonesian Police's crucial role in maintaining national stability and security, describing it as the principal foundation for the success of the national development agenda.

"Thanks to the National Police, our nation can carry out major agenda in our national development," Prabowo stated during the Indonesian Police's 79th-anniversary ceremony at the National Monument (Monas) Square on Tuesday.

According to the president, the main goal of Indonesian independence is not only to free the nation from colonialism but also to achieve resilience and become a just and prosperous country.

He believes the National Police play a vital role in realizing this aspiration. "The aspiration of our national founders is an Indonesia with no poverty, no hunger, and a just Indonesia," Prabowo stated.

Reflecting on world history, he noted that no country can be strong without a strong police force.

Hence, on the occasion of the national police's 79th anniversary, the president called on everyone to appreciate and express gratitude to the founders of the Indonesian Police.

"With this awareness from the first to the seventh presidents, as well as during my current presidency, we all understand the importance of a strong and advanced police force," Prabowo remarked.

President Prabowo presided over the ceremony commemorating the Indonesian Police's anniversary, also known as Bhayangkara Day, at Monas Square.

The president, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, arrived at Monas Square at 7:56 a.m. local time. After the ceremony commenced, President Prabowo, accompanied by Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, rode in a Pindad Maung military vehicle to inspect the troops.

The police showcased advanced robots in various forms, including humanoid, dog-shaped, tank-shaped, and agriculture drones, in the defile. At least 25 such robots were featured in the event.

Several prominent figures also attended the ceremony, including former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, House Speaker Puan Maharani, and Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, the widow of former President Abdurrahman Wahid.
