In a statement issued Thursday, Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani said the potential investments include combined-cycle gas turbines, green hydrogen, and water desalination projects, with total funding estimated at up to US$10 billion.
He explained that the collaboration could help Indonesia achieve its renewable energy targets, including a 34 percent renewable energy mix by 2034 and 87 percent by 2060.
The partnership with ACWA Power is also seen as a key milestone in positioning Indonesia as an important player in the global energy transition, by bringing in both capital and technical expertise to accelerate high-impact projects in solar power, green hydrogen, and integrated water solutions.
Roeslani said the deal reflects Danantara’s commitment to forming long-term, credible alliances that support national priority programs while also generating commercial returns.
“By directing state-owned resources into ventures with reliable global partners, we aim to foster sustainable growth, strengthen energy resilience, and attract long-term foreign investment. This is how we move toward a greener and more prosperous future,” he said.
In addition, ACWA Power has signed a strategic partnership with Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company, to develop multi-billion-dollar power generation and desalination projects.
The collaboration will focus on co-developing clean energy initiatives in Indonesi, including the deployment of renewable energy technologies, 500 megawatts of gas-to-power capacity, new electricity tenders, green hydrogen projects, and operations and maintenance (O&M) services.
Pertamina CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri reaffirmed the company’s commitment to a dual-growth strategy of securing national energy supplies while advancing the energy transition.
“By integrating renewable energy, green hydrogen, and sustainable infrastructure, we aim to deliver real value for both countries and help lead the region’s shift to a low-carbon economy,” he said.
ACWA Power Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Raad Al-Saady welcomed the partnership and reiterated the company’s support for Indonesia’s energy security goals.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to helping Indonesia achieve long-term energy and water security, and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future,” Al-Saady added.
