Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized his administration’s commitment to addressing core issues in education, health, and welfare to help build resilient families in the capital city.

"Based on my observations, Jakarta still faces numerous family-related challenges that need to be addressed," he stated at an event commemorating the 32nd National Family Day in Jakarta on Sunday.

The governor argued that focusing on education, health, and welfare is essential to enabling families to function as intended.

"We will continue working to ensure that all families in Jakarta have sufficient access to proper education and healthcare and can enjoy a decent standard of living. This is my priority," Pramono affirmed.

Meanwhile, Head of the Jakarta Office of Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control, Iin Mutmainnah, noted that the three areas highlighted by the governor are part of the eight recognized family functions as outlined by the Indonesian government.

Government Regulation No. 87 of 2014 on population development and family planning defines families as societal units responsible for performing religious, socio-cultural, emotional, protective, reproductive, educational, economic, and environmental functions.

Mutmainnah emphasized that fathers and mothers are expected to fulfill these functions optimally to develop quality families.

"Families are children’s first educational environment. We hope that all Jakarta residents embrace these functions to create prosperous families," she said.
