“We encouraged them to prepare themselves as well as possible because there will be a direct interview test by a team from Korea and tests related to the work they will do,” Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Christina Aryani, said.
The test-takers were selected from more than 10,528 job seekers registered in the ministry’s Computerized System for Services and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (Siskop2MI), she informed in a press statement after reviewing the test in Semarang.
Prospective migrant workers from 25 provinces, including Central Papua and East Nusa Tenggara, took the test, held over three days from July 18 to 20, 2025. The largest number of participants came from Java.
They were vying for jobs under South Korea’s recruitment quota for foreign workers, which has been set at 8,200 this year.
During the review, Aryani, who is also known as Christina, also provided motivation and guidance to test participants, and asked them to remain calm and confident in the follow-up selection stages.
“This skills test is one of the determining factors for whether you will be accepted for employment in South Korea. So, take each session calmly so you can think of good answers, but do not dwell on it for too long,” she said.
The deputy minister also reminded migrant worker candidates about the importance of ethical conduct and preserving Indonesia’s good reputation while working abroad.
“If you graduate and succeed in working in South Korea, I hope you can uphold Indonesia’s good name,” she said.
She closed her remarks with a message of encouragement for all participants.
“Becoming successful requires struggle. However, with thorough preparation, tireless effort, and parental prayers, any dream can come true,” she added.
The skills test was organized by the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) in collaboration with the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRDK).
Participants took part in a series of tests over three days, which ranged from interviews to physical and basic skills tests, all of which were carried out by HRDK.
The skills test underscored the KP2MI’s commitment to ensure the dignified governance of migrant workers.
