"Throughout Operation Patuh, the number of traffic accidents declined by 367 cases, from 3,251 last year to 2,884, almost 12 percent," Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho noted in his official statement on Tuesday.
He also highlighted a reduction in traffic accident fatalities, which dropped to 83 during this year's operation, along with a decrease in injuries from 417 in the 2024 operation to 334 this year.
The corps chief explained that Operasi Patuh 2025 uses a three-pronged approach: preemptive, preventive, and repressive measures applied simultaneously.
Among the strategies pursued during the campaign is engaging with automotive communities and vehicle users, he stated.
"We meet with automotive communities, so we do not only enforce the laws but also interact more humanely and educationally. We invite them to speak about their problems regarding traffic conditions," the Traffic Corps chief remarked.
Suryonugroho called Operasi Patuh 2025 a success and expects road users to become more attentive to traffic regulations and prioritize safety in the future.
The operation aims to improve road safety, order, and traffic flow, referred to locally as kamseltibcarlantas. It also supports the upcoming National Road Traffic and Transport Safety Day, observed annually on September 19.
At the campaign launch on July 14, Traffic Corps' Operations Chief Commissioner Aries stated that the operation specifically targets violations known to cause traffic accidents, such as riding against traffic, not wearing helmets, using mobile phones while driving, and underage driving.
